on December 31, 2005Here we have a remake of an earlier movie that's the retelling of a story that first appeared in a book that may or may not have been based on actual events.
The interesting etymology of the movie aside, this is a pretty standard fare horror flick. I'm not one for horror movies, so the cheap little theatrics that they employed in this movie worked. I was scared. At least, I was partially scared as the events unfolded. Mostly I was bored. For whatever reason, in between a few shocking moments, there wasn't a ton of interesting stuff going on to keep my interest.
