on October 2, 2005I'm really weary of stories that make a leap from one format to another. Many movies that start off as a book lose something in the translation. TV shows have their own set of problems. Musicals tend to disappoint when they're stuffed into a movie. There's a lot from the stage that just doesn't work on the silver screen.
Phantom of the Opera, however, made a brilliant translation. It's been long enough since I've seen the play that I'm not able to nitpick any differences that were made. All I know is that the movie is a brilliant adaptation. I highly recommend this movie; it's a treat to watch.
