on March 16, 2005Sky Captain is a great visual movie. It really proves that you can stick characters in front of a blue screen for an entire movie and produce a great looking movie.
Sadly, beyond that it doesn't really have much to offer. The story is strictly cookie-cutter. There's no real character development, and at times it even felt like the characters themselves were computer elements.
This movie could have been truly great. It's a very unique visual style, there are tons of little things thrown in referencing other sci-fi movies, but sadly the lack of a real story or characters keep it from the greatness it could have been.
