on June 29, 2004I was mildly looking forward to this film. I played a lot of Vampire: The Masquerade, and when White Wolf (publishers of the game) sued Sony Pictures for copyright infringement, I knew if nothing else, I'd be able to enjoy a good story I'd already played the game to.
Well, after watching the movie, I don't see much of a connection, the basic story of Vampires and Werewolves is in the movie, true, but I didn't really feel much of the White Wolf story here. With my main motivation for the movie gone, I really couldn't get into it. There were some Matrix-style special effects sprinkled around an otherwise uninteresting movie.
If you've got nothing else to watch, it's mildly worth it for special effects, but the plot itself is a bland slave versus master story that's been done 100 different times, and almost all of them done better.
