The Zenith Angle is a science fiction book. Let me rephrase that, this is a "science fiction" book. In reality, it's a shoddily constructed story serving as a vehicle for Sterling to rant about the stupidity of bureaucracy, especially in the post-9/11 American government.

The plot itself in the book comes and goes, and at times is replaced with character development that feels forced, if only because the reader is left wondering what happened to the plot, and why we should care about any of the actors. The main character ends up foiling an evil plot, to use e-mail spam to destroy cities. The funny thing is if I wanted a plot for a modern cheesy scifi movie, this would be it.

Pretty much the only reason I stuck around to the bitter end was to see if anything exciting and thought provoking would happen. It didn't, and I was left wishing I had never read this book.
