The world's best secret agent, James Bond, oops, I mean Agent 1, is taken down, and along with him, all of the other secret agents are killed. So Johnny English, an underling who was apparently responsible for the mishap in the first place, is put on the case. Mildly funny scenes follow, punctuated by some rather boring sequences to advance the plot. He then uncovers a ridiculous plot to turn England into a penal island and ends up saving the day.

It has a few humorous moments. Though, to me it suffers from generic character actor problems. Anytime a well liked character actor moves on, they either take their character and move it slightly along to moderate success, or break out of their old character to new directions. This movie pretty much Secret Agent: Mr. Bean, and ends up only being funny in a few parts. I enjoyed the flick, but only mildly so. I'd say wait till it's on TV, don't bother renting it. And I hope Rowan Atkinson can find some movie work that can really showcase his abilities.
