I'll be the first to admit that the reason I probably didn't like this movie is that I didn't get it. This is hailed as a satirical and comedic masterpiece with a serious message behind it. While I'll agree it is satirical, and does indeed have a serious message, the humor is so painfully applied that I couldn't really enjoy the movie.

The plot revolves around three parties: A deranged general who orders his B-52 bombers to launch an attack on Russia, The flight crew of one of the B-52s, and the president and his cabinet as they attempt to avert the attack. Much of the story has been parodied in other movies, so even if you haven't seen this movie yet, you likely know what the plot is, and how it ends. The thing that got me was the humor; it's exceptionally dark and twisted humor, that didn't really make much sense to me.

Maybe I'm just losing interest in what older movies have to offer. They're a very different beast than the popcorn fare of today's world, and I'm sure that my senses have been molded to deal with today's action packed blockbuster movies. Whatever the case, I just don't get this movie, and after watching it, I'm really somewhat surprised that many people can call it one of the best movies ever.
