The science in this movie is extraordinarily bad. Normally I can let such things go, but when a movie is boring enough that I'm sitting through it taking apart the scientific elements, I tend to lose interest really fast.

It opens with a scene involving what must be the city block with the highest per capita rate of people with pace makers in the world. From that scene that seemingly bares little relation to the basic plot (they do tie it together nicely) it really goes downhill. It quickly devolves into a movie with cookie-cutter characters, and worse, cookie cutter plot lines. One rather striking scene involves landing the space shuttle off course. I won't spoil the scene if you haven't seen it, but before the scene played out, I thought of the worse, cheesiest way to conclude the scene was. Sure enough, the movie played out exactly as I had envisioned it would. And, sadly, that scene wasn't the only time it happened, just the only time I was laughing at the thought of it happening. After that, I became a little scared that it would happen again.

All in all, the movie didn't have a good story, had some horrible science fiction coupled with some good science at odd times, and some mildly good special effects. It's almost fun to watch in the way some bad movies are fun to watch, that's really about its only saving grace.
