on July 9, 2003This is a superbly acted movie, the cinematography is great, and it fits together rather well. That said, I didn't like the movie. The basic plot seems to boil down to how miserable life is in suburbia.
Even though Kevin Spacey's performance is top notch as always, I just couldn't get into the movie. By the end of the flick, I really didn't care how the various plots resolved themselves. I actually found it rather depressing that the seemingly only way to escape the boredom of suburbia is to resort to drugs and lawlessness. It seemed an incredibly shallow movie.
