When a movie that tries to stay true to life does something like blow up Baltimore's stadium with a small nuclear bomb, you expect it to be a dream sequence. When it turns out it's not, it really adds a certain punch to the movie that made it enjoyable.

I'm a sucker for Jack Ryan's character, and was a bit worried when I saw a movie was staring Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan. What I didn't realize, though, was this movie is from very early on in Jack Ryan's life, and Affleck really fit the part well. The acting was exceptionally done, and after the hour or so of setup, the plot boiled down into two supper powers fighting with themselves over who's going to strike first in a nuclear war. For such an over done premise, it was very well done, and managed to keep the tension to the end.

The end was a bit rushed, with a bit of an over-done happy ending, when the characters almost seem to forget an American city was destroyed, but it was nevertheless enjoyable. This movie really fits in, quality wise, with the other Jack Ryan movies. I'm going to go watch them again.
