Warning aside, I really liked this DVD. The basic idea is the director finally went through and fixed all of the problems he originally had with the movie and added some special effects to scenes that were missing. The end result is a movie that isn't really dramatically changed, but just enhanced. If you found the original movie boring and unwatchable, then you'll probably find this boring and unwatchable as well. If, on the other hand, you liked the original, you'll likely like this version as well.

The audio track in this movie was rather interesting. I didn't have the patience to watch the writers on-screen commentary, but the directors version was quite interesting to hear, especially some of the insight into the movie from his talks with Gene Roddenberry.

All in all, I recommend this to fans of the original movie, but warn others it won't redeem the movie for you.
