I've never read the Lord Of The Rings books, so all I knew about the story going in was that it had something to do with Hobbits, and a ring. So I won't be comparing it to the book, though, i've heard that it follows it pretty closely.

I loved this movie. I'm not usually into the whole fantasy D&D, Harry Potter type stories, but this one was really enjoyable to me. I don't remember a bad line, or dull spot in the whole 3 hour film. Usually there is some spot in even the best movies that have some horrid dialogue or something, but I don't remember any here. The characters were well developed, they don't assume you've read the books. and I thought the story itself was a pretty fascinating one. Also, I can say from the standpoint of someone who never read the books, that you don't have to, to enjoy or understand the movie.

I had heard before seeing the film that it was being called the new Star Wars trilogy. I don't know if i'll say anything is better to me then the original Star Wars trilogy, if for no other reason then the nostalgia aspect. But I can certainly see this being a real incredible trilogy if the next 2 movies are as good as this one was. And since they were all filmed at the same time, there's certainly hope.

I usually get tired in 3 hour movies, and this was no exception, but it wasn't the films fault, it was the damn chair they had in the theater. Uncomfortable bastards they were.

The movie kept moving at a good pace, I never felt bored, or at a loss for action. The special effects were almost flawless. Some of the best stuff i've seen in a while.

What more can I say, I look forward to seeing the next 2 movies. I almost can't wait.

Well, going into this I knew some of the story because I began, but couldn't finish, the book. I also listened to an abridged version of "The Hobbit". So, I knew some of the background of the story, and had really liked it, but I don't know the complete story.

That aside, I really enjoyed this movie. It was truly a great story, very well told. The special effects in this movie never seem out of place, and only add to the visual treat of the movie. I can't recall an instance looking at something, and saying "yep, that's CGI creature". It was all well done, and seemed to flow with the story exceedingly well.

The story itself, for me was a bit difficult to follow, but not overly so, and you really enjoyed watching it. The characters were very lifelike, and each with a consistent personality. Ironically, the only two characters I really had trouble with were the two human characters. Except near the end, I had difficulty telling them apart.

The three hours that I was sitting in the theater didn't feel that long. The movie kept up a quick pace; there wasn't a part that I was just waiting through: rather I was enjoying the whole movie.

All in all, it was a great movie; the only thing that got to me was the ending. I know its part of a trilogy, but it just struck me as odd that the main plot of a movie isn't resolved by the time the movie is over. It felt backwards to me, most of the time sub-plots are used to connect movies, and the main plot is resolved. It's not really a bad thing though; it just feels different to me.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the next two movies. And who knows, maybe I'll even try picking up the book again.
