Concert For New York City, The Artist: Various Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: December 29, 2001 (by Michelle) Michelle's Review: on December 29, 2001 This is a pretty fantastic album. Not just musically, but also for it's purpose. I hadn't seen the concert on tv before listening to this album. But that didn't matter. I have since seen most of the concert on tv, and it's as good to watch as it is to listen to. Highlights of this show is The Who, who just blow you away, and BIlly Joel, with his awesome rendition of New York State Of Mind. But the highlight of the concert for me, is by a long shot, Five For Fighting's "Superman". It's an incredible song to begin with, but when they perform it here, like The Who and prettymuch everyone else, there's more behind it. Emotion, and power, and substance, and you can feel it too. Not often does a live album successfully convey the emotion behind the performance, but this one does it very well. I could do without the Backstreet boys, Jay-Z, and Destiny's Child, and it's because of them I don't give the album 5 stars. But every other performance during this show was incredible. -- Scott and Michelle |
