Hannibal isn't as good as Silence of the Lambs. Let's just get that out of the way right now. First things first. I don't like it when they replace one actor for another to play the same part. I always spend the entire movie comparing the two, and noticing differences. And of course, rarely can the 2nd actor convince you they are more that character then the original.

That said, The movie was good. But it wasn't as good as the original. Why? I guess for me it's mostly that the original had such a great dynamic between the characters of Clarice and Hannibal, that it was intriguing. What was Hannibal up to? Was Clarice falling for it? The mind games we're really fascinating. But there's none of that here. And that's too bad.

In fact, the two main characters don't even meet until the end. Which worked in Sleepless in Seattle, but not so much here. I didn't think Hannibal was all that psychological in this one as he was in the first movie. Hannibal relies more on gore then the psychological aspect to move the plot along, and that just takes away from the movie. For me anyway.

The ending... I didn't know wether to laugh, or to be grossed out. I was a little of both I spose, but in the end, it was just pretty silly.
