I like scary movies. And I hate them just as much. But like Marylin Manson, there's something oddly intriguing about them, So I watch. In the case of Marylin Manson, some of his songs are catchy. In the case of Pitch Black, none of it is.

It's typical scary movie stuff. The cat jumps out of nowhere.. things like that. There is zero character development. We aren't clued in to the year it is, or even what planet they land on. It takes half the movie and a few deaths, before I realized the name of one character. There's nothing original here. The aliens look liek the creatures from the movie Alien mixed with a scorpion, and the entire movie is so inconsistent it's ludicrous.

This movie is bad. There's just no way around it. It's just a formulaic scary movie. They characters are flat and pointless. The evil creatures live for twenty-two years without eating, and then go on a feeding frenzy, on a dead world. And there's a physco evil character.

There are really too many problems with this movie to make it even the least enjoyable. It's a classic scary movie, not pulled off that well, and with poor cinematography.
