First off, this movie was based on a true story. It may sound odd, but I have a bit of trouble generally watching such movies, since I'm constantly trying to guess what parts are true, and which parts are Hollywood's creations. This movie didn't suffer from that problem.

That didn't make it particularly easy to watch. Based in the 70's, just after forced integration in schools begins to be enforced, it's the story of a football team forced to deal with the black and white issues itself, and the local community who would rather not see it integrated. Watching movies about racism can be tough for me to watch, because I know they're true, and I want to slap some of the idiots in the movie.

In the end, even though the movie was about football, it was a very well done story about a group faced with many adversities, and coming together. It's a Disney movie, but it didn't feel like your cheesy underdog movie, it felt like a real movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My favorite inspirational movie is Rudy. Which ironically also has a football theme. I don't know why I like it, I can't stand football, but the story itself was quite powerful, and makes you want to get off your ass and do something with your life. Remember the Titans is a similar type of story. Not plot wise, but it's a feel good movie in the same vein as Rudy. Though, in my opinion, not quite as good.

Not that Remeber the Titans doesn't have it's share of powerful and emotional moments. It does. And like Rudy, it's also based on a true story. Which I always find inspirational. Sometimes true stories can seem unbelieveable, then once hollywood gets ahold of it, it usually becomes unbelieveable, but the main story here is true. One individual does something extraordinary, and changes the world. Okay, maybe not the world, but definatly made an impact, and in some cases, even changed the way many people think.

To think that people have ever existed with such hatred toward someone who is different then them, wether it's skin color, sexual identity, or whatever, is just too incredible for me to comprehend. Yet, it exists. It still exists today. And it just makes me sick when I see it. Wether in real life, or a movie. No one is any better then anyone else. No One. I don't care who you are.

Ultimatly, I think this movie conveyed that. And I liked that.
