Frequency is another time travel type story. But it does it in a fairly unique way.

Rather then the characters literally travelling through time, it's done though a HAM radio as a result of a solar flare from the sun whcih interfers with the radio and transmits the signal in such a way that allows the son in 1999, to talk to his father 30 years earlier in 1969. Is it far fetched? yeah, but there is some truth to the theory. On the DVD they explain how solar flares actually do interfere with ham radios. It's interesting to hear. It doesn't really work to the extent the movie takes it, but that's okay. I don't mind a little truth stretching for the purposes of a good story. In fact, I encourage it most times.

The story develops as the father and son communicate with each other through the radios, and as the story progresses, events inevitably change, which of course changes the course of the future. For better or worse? Watch the movie. But I really enjoyed it. Espically if you have ever wished you could talk to someone once more who is non longer around. It can be a very emotional tug on the heart strings.

At first this seemed like a very good movie. Through a science fiction plot device, a grown man is able to talk to his dad in the past, and try and prevent his death. It, however, quickly turns into a mind-numbing attempt of trying to use bizarre time travel phenomenon to its advantage. Needless to say, I think it failed. Ignoring the whole time travel issues, the movie is basically a rather standard cop story. Only the main cop in the story seems to be acting like I would if I were doing his job.

I guess this movie's only saving grace is that I enjoyed watching it. Plot holes aside, the story was very well told, and well paced.
