I really enjoyed this movie. Believe it or not, this is the first time I've seen it too. I thought it was well put together, had a solid, complete plot, and well acted.

The plot, as everyone, but me knows, is basically a tiny island town is victim of a fatal shark attack. The mayor refuses to close down the beach, since it'll ruin his town's financial stream. Of course, things only get more dangerous from that point onwards.

I'm told that when it first played, since it was really the first horror movie of it's kind, it was quite nerve wracking to watch. Some of that is lost, I think, due to time, and audiences becoming more hardened. Nevertheless, however, this movie still holds up, and worth a watch.

Okay, for me, this is a review something like 20 years in the making. When I was little, I read the book, and saw the movie I don't know how much later, but needless to say, i've seen the movie many times since over the years, and just recently (for the purposes of this review) the DVD. I have to say, Jaws is just one of those movies that, unlike me, never gets old. You have to remember, that when this movie first came out, it scared everyone silly, and stopped allot of people from swimming in open water for a long time. I was young, but I remember the stir this movie created back then. While it may not have the same impact these days, it still holds up well to time. The shark is still big, and it still scares the hell out of anyone with a heartbeat, even in this day and age of gore and violence all over the tv. There's just something about Jaws, and it's something that isn't so much visual, but suspenseful. It's not watching the shark attack that scares you, it's wondering *when* the shark is gonna attack that puts you on the edge of your seat, and *that* to me, is why Jaws is such a fantastic movie.
