I'm a Stranger Here Myself Author: Bill Bryson Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: September 19, 2000 (by Scott) (Audible version) Scott's Review: on September 19, 2000 This is a collection of newspaper columns published by Bill Bryson. I had never heard of his columns, or indeed the author, but this book appeared to be popular, so I decided to give it a go. I'm very glad I did. Bryson, via his newspaper columns, tells about his experiences, or just thoughts of, his return to America, after about twenty years of living in England. Having grown up in America, very few of the experiences should be terribly unique, but since he has a different perspective on our life, they tend to be rather different than your average Joe. At times the book turns into simply ragging on America, but for the most part, these are cute stories, very humorously told, about American everyday life. -- Scott and Michelle |
