Tarzan Release Year: 1999 Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: July 1, 2000 (by Michelle) (DVD version) Scott's Review: on February 25, 2000 The classic tale of Tarzan, as only the wizards at Disney could tell it. Complete with talking baboons. I have to say this is a cute little story. And the few scenes with Tarzan "surfing" through the trees are a visual treat; it's amazing to see how well the meshing of CGI and classic cell animation is coming. In the end, I think this is a fun movie, but with treats that only really appeals to the kids inside of us, there was very little that redeemed it to the adults. Michelle's Review: on July 1, 2000 Tarzan was a pretty good movie. For a Disney movie that is. It had all the obligatory talking animals, and semi-decent animation they seem to only be able to do these days (why can't they draw as amazing as they used to?) and an over the top cuteness factor. But that said, it was allot of fun, and entertaining, and made me laugh and all the stuff it was supposed to do. I'm kind of ify on the whole trend Disney is into now with blending CGI into the scenes. Maybe i'm just old school having grown up on the old Disney style, but I kind of wish they'd stick to just drawing everything and not using CGI. Leave that to newcomers like Dreamworks who are poineering that technique. But then, i'm just getting off on a rant now, and I won't bore you with that. Bottom line, rent this movie, espically if you have kids, they'll love it :-) -- Scott and Michelle |
