Starship Troopers Author: Robert A. Heinlein Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: February 25, 2000 (by Scott) (Audible [unabridged] version) Scott's Review: on February 25, 2000 This is an interesting read. Extremist political views populate the book, but that really doesn't distract too much from the story. Interestingly enough, it bears very little resemblance to the movie, many things that seemed out of whack, or were way off in the movie is simply not in the book. Though, the book spends most of it's time talking about political views, the fact it's set in the future, with a war raging against some sort of bugs is very much secondary. If you can manage to put aside your political views, then this is a rather touching tale, and all though I haven't read them, I suspect it's very similar to many of the young son gone off to fight in World War I stories. -- Scott and Michelle |
