This is, basically a story about an Irish man, who in his late teens, immigrates to America in search of the American dream. In reality though, I feel it's simply the story about a drunk, stumbling through life, too mad at the world to make anything of him, and destroying the chances that life does through his way. I'm sure there's a deep meaning somewhere in here, not to mention an enjoyable story, but I couldn't find it.
