Dante's Comedy The Inferno Author: Dante Alighieri, Nicholas Kilmer (Translator) Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: January 26, 2000 (by Scott) (Audible version) Scott's Review: on January 26, 2000 This is a bizarre journey into hell. Don't let the age of the book fool you; some of the descriptions of the underworld and its inhabitants that it contains are extremely evocative and disturbing. All things considered, I would have to say that I liked the book. I did have a bit of trouble following the colloquial speech, perhaps it's time for a more updated translation. Some of the imagery this book invokes reminds me of the darker scenes in the movie "What Dreams May Come." Defiantly worth a read, especially given how well this book has stood up against the test of time. -- Scott and Michelle |
