The White Album

Just some daytime pics of the snow we got last night. We wanted to give a nice, big snowman a happy birthday, but the snow is just too powdery and won't stick well enough for that :-(

Ah well, maybe next time.

Forget What I Said Before, THIS is What We Call a Blizzard!

Yikes! We got buried in snow tonight, a whole day after the news predicted we would (yeah, it was supposed to happen yesterday!, thanks local news!..) Anyway, when it snowed a few weeks ago, we ended up with about 3-4 inches, and everyone thought that was bad. Well, tonight, we easily doubled that. Scott actually got stuck in it trying to get home from work, and finally made it home after the snow turned a normal 30min commute into a 6 hour one! He did stop to get something to eat at one point, but still, that should tell you how crazy Seattle gets when it snows around here.

Anyway, since this is a blog, and I have a camera, here are the obligatory pics:

Our front porch. I really do need to get some boots,
shoes just don't cut it in snow this deep.
Believe it or not, 7+ inches is impressive for this area.
Just outside our front yard..

Hopefully it'll all still be here in the morning!

Van Halen in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

Link to Article: VH in Rock Hall

Well, they finally made it!. Van Halen is going into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They've been eligible now for 5 years, and even though they should have been a first ballot nominee (don't get me started on how lame and ignorant the rock hall is these days. ie: Black Sabbath), at least they're getting in now. It's well deserved. Of course, the big question now, since the band is currently in such disaray, is who will show up? Will they perform? And if so, with who? The original 4 are in of course, Alex, Michael, Eddie & Dave. And Sammy is too, even though he joined the band in 1985 so technically shouldn't be going in until 2010, but I'm glad they included him anyway. They completely ignored Gary Cherone, but perhaps rightly so.

What really complicates matters though, is that Eddie recently announced that Michael Anthony is no longer in Van Halen, and that he's replacing him with his son Wolfgang. This is such an moronic move on so many levels, but then, VH has made little but moronic moves the last few years. The crazy thing is, Mike has been the one solid thing in the band. The only guy who has stood outside all the infantile bickering that the rest of them seem to enjoy doing so much. Mike is Switzerland. He shows up and plays and keeps his nose out of it. So now that he's apparantly been booted out, it begs the question, will Mike be at the Rock Hall? Will he play with the band? And if so, can you say AWKWARD!? Plus, Eddie has been trying to get Dave back in the band, which is huge, but without Mike, it won't be a real reunion, not to mention having Sammy and Dave there at the same time, in the same room, as part of the same band. If they perform, how are they gonna manage that?
I dunno, I want VH in the Rock Hall, they deserve it. But with all the dysfunction surrounding the band, it'll be fascinating to see how they handle it all at the ceremony. But I can tell you one thing for sure, if they perform at all, especially with Dave, I can promise you, you don't want to miss it. And I, for one, can't wait!
