Strummin' With the Devil

So David Lee Roth has been making the promotional rounds lately for a new Van Halen tribute album. This one is a bit odd though, even for Diamond Dave. Instead of rock versions of VH songs, they are done bluegrass style. Why? Hell if I know. It's not really that great an album truth be told, though there are a couple cool versions on it. "I'll Wait" is fantastic, and "Hot For Teacher" is kind of cool too if only for the uniqueness of hearing it on banjo. Can't say I really recommend it though unless your a real die-hard VH sucker like me. Mostly because Dave does perform on a couple songs even if they aren't the best on the album. Verdict? I really wish Dave would just get back to doing what he used to be the best at, fronting a great rock band.
